Located on the East Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, the Clarence Valley homes some of the highest mountains in New Zealand. Due to its dry climate, the area escaped extensive glaciation during the Ice Age. In the evenings the rolling hills contrast against each other as the sun sets on the West Coast. Instead of glacial features, landforms above the original bush line are a result of mass movement of rock and debris.
