It had been around 40 years since New Zealand experienced the astronomical phenomenon of a blood supermoon rising – where a total lunar eclipse happens at the same time as a supermoon.
This image was captured in Tekapo on May 26. The lunar eclipse lasted for around five hours, beginning shortly before 9pm and reached its peak eclipse at 11:11pm.
